Diogo grabs and kisses Andréa. Enraged, she slaps him. Andréa remembers Diogo trying to stop her marriage to Bruno. Sandro photographs Gabriela. Andréa waits for Bruno, who is at Selma's house. Andréa storms onto the catwalk, accusing Antônia of stealing her collection, and is booed. Diogo removes her from the catwalk. Antônia is applauded at the end of the show. Andréa sees Isaura talking to Selma. Antônia gives interviews. Chico sees a man with a Santa Claus tattoo following Júlia. Andréa slaps Selma. Chico goes to Júlia's house and says he will defend her to the end. Beto offers Letícia a ride. Isaura is distraught when Andréa accuses her of stealing the sketches.

Isaura leaves, assuring Andréa that she didn't steal the drawings. Gabriela makes love with Beto. Virgínia is certain she's pregnant with Ariel's child. Bruno and Antonia have sex. Gabriela is pleased to learn that Nicolau has a millionaire father. Renato warns Chico that his life is in danger. Vavá pretends to be Chico Maia and takes a woman to bed. Mindinho and Zezão mistakenly take Vavá. Júlia goes to Chico's house and finds a gagged woman; she says Chico has been taken.

Andréa tries to convince Antônia to confess everything. Hidden, she hears Selma complaining that Bruno isn't coming home early. Coelho demands that Chico hand over the evidence against him. Júlia is overwhelmed with worry. Zezão points a gun at Vavá. Handcuffed, Chico and Renato manage to disarm Mindinho. Vavá hits Zezão with a stick. The three escape. Ariel starts having cravings. Renato cries when he realizes he is paralyzed from the waist down. Júlia affirms that they will fight together so that he can regain his movement. Selma puts a pill in Diogo's drink. He loses consciousness; she, in lingerie, lies down on the bed. Andréa, who is waiting for Diogo for dinner, gets tired of waiting and decides to go to the boat. Arriving there, she is horrified to see a woman in bed with Diogo.

The car crashes into a wall. Bruno collapses onto the steering wheel, unconscious. Beto spreads gasoline on the car and Bruno's clothes, but when he goes to light it, he hears a scream and runs away. Diogo and Andréa rescue Bruno and take him to the hospital. Selma sees her wrecked car and realizes that Beto made another mistake. Diogo instructs Andréa not to give Bruno's real name at the hospital so that Selma won't find him. Bruno wakes up and refuses to speak to Andréa. Nicolau serenades Letícia, who appears at the window. Selma slaps Beto. Bruno goes to Andréa's house, and she tells him that Selma tried to kill him.

Bruno admits that deep down he already knew, apologizes for everything, and assures everyone that he truly loved Andréa once. Selma feels cornered. Antônia receives a call from Bruno. In Virgínia's room, Tadeu waits for Bill under the covers. Bill runs out. Selma packs her bags, but as she leaves the house, she encounters Bruno.

Bruno remembers Isaura and tells Antônia that Andréa and Selma are sisters. Selma returns home. Bruno gets angry when Xavier informs him that the job wasn't done. Selma puts on her wedding dress, brandishes the knife, and threatens Bruno.

Bruno fights with Selma, manages to take the knife from her, and drags her out of the house. Selma wanders along the beach with her torn wedding dress. Virginia and Ariel plan their wedding. At a party in the newsroom, Júlia is bothered by seeing Chico and Gilda together and drinks heavily. Out of her mind, she asks Chico to declare his love publicly. Ariel and Tadeu talk about their marriages. Júlia goes to Chico's house, kisses him, and ends up falling asleep on the sofa. Marlene tries to prevent Bruno from entering Andréa's house. Selma appears and assures him she isn't afraid of him.

Bill sleeps fully clothed next to Tadeu. Beto persists with Letícia, and she is disturbed when he kisses her. Bruno proposes to Antônia. Andréa gives up waiting for Antônia and introduces Selma, who prepares to speak to the reporters.

Selma tells all in the interview. Bruno reveals to reporters that Selma was removed from her position due to a psychotic episode. Antônia confirms she created all the designs for the fashion show. Ariel gets engaged to Virgínia. Tadeu, Bárbara, and Bill team up to stop the wedding. Júlia apologizes to Chico. Thanks to Tadeu, Virgínia tells Ariel about the fake pregnancy. Depressed because he's no longer going to be a father, Ariel locks himself in his room and slips a note under the door warning that if the door is broken down, he will kill himself. Renato works hard at physiotherapy. Gabriela hits Beto. Andréa is very worried when she learns that Selma has left. Selma climbs to the top of a skyscraper and sits on the parapet. A group of people stop in the street and look up. Diogo and Andréa see the news on TV and run to the scene. Selma makes the sign of the cross and leans forward.

Virgínia cries, missing Ariel, and argues with Bill. Selma accuses Bruno of killing Euzeni. Isaura is harsh with Selma and accuses her of manipulating everyone's feelings. Selma feels nauseous. Bruno is furious when Kléber makes it clear that he is a suspect in Euzeni's death. Tadeu dreams of Ariel walking on the French Riviera. Ariel opens the door only for Cristiano. Virgínia returns. A doctor confirms to Selma that she is pregnant.

Selma asks Andréa and Diogo to reschedule the wedding. Júlia, while sleeping, calls Renato "Chico"; he kicks her out of bed. Chico swears to Gilda that he no longer has anything to do with Júlia. Gongon confesses that he finds Renato special. Kléber warns that a witness saw Bruno run over Euzeni. Selma buys an abortifacient herb. Xavier says he'll find a convicted friend to confess to the crime if Bruno pays well. Diogo hears Selma moaning and sees the tea packet. She confesses that she's pregnant and says that Diogo is the father.

Selma talks about the night on the boat when she put something in Diogo's wine. Andréa appears and they pretend nothing happened. Diogo remembers that in his delirium he confused Selma with Andréa. Isaura overhears Selma confessing that she made love with Diogo during her fertile period on purpose, and that Bruno uses a condom. Renato manages to get up and feel his leg. Jacaré, a friend of Xavier, confesses that he committed the crime at Selma's command. Kléber realizes it's a scam. Isaura assures Andréa that Selma will ruin her life. Andréa asks Selma if she is pregnant.

Selma tells Andréa about her pregnancy, but warns that she will have an abortion. Diogo begs Andréa not to let her. Isaura insists that Selma should have the baby somewhere else. Diogo suggests she go to a clinic, but Andréa prefers she stay at home. Antônia receives the journalists to show them her collection. They detest Antônia's avant-garde clothes and love Andréa's simplicity. Júlia is hostile towards Selma and tells Andréa she had a bad feeling. Kléber handcuffs Selma and says he's taking her to the police station.

Selma swears to her sister that Bruno killed Euzeni. Andréa, Diogo, and Doctor Nelson free Selma. Bruno is surprised to learn that Selma is pregnant. Ariel repeats mantras. Virgínia proposes that they hold a spiritual vigil. Chico overhears Júlia complaining about Renato. Afrânio informs Bruno that the company is out of money. Júlia warns Diogo about the danger of having Selma in the same house. Raquel Vonnegut knocks on Ariel's door. Patty says he's unreachable, but Ariel opens the door and pulls Raquel inside. Bruno and Selma accuse each other. He insists on knowing who the father of the child is.

Afrânio confesses to stealing money from the company, is fired, gets punched, and swears Bruno will regret it. Diogo and Selma take a DNA test. Kléber arrests Bruno for white-collar crime. He is placed in the same cell as Beto.

Bruno argues with Beto. Selma demands that Isaura acknowledge her innocence. Ariel tells Rachel the latest news in Diogo's life. The test confirms that the child is Diogo's. Patty is delighted with Rachel's adventures. Virginia tells Bill that she has decided to have a child with him, but through insemination. Renato manages to stand up. Isaura insists that Diogo tell Andréa the truth soon. Antônia pays Bruno's bail. Marlene reads the DNA test results. Bruno goes to the company and Afrânio introduces himself as the new owner.

Bruno knocks Afrânio down with a punch and is escorted out of the company by security guards. Marlene advises Andréa to have Selma committed. Bruno is summoned to the police station because Afrânio filed a complaint of assault. Gongon kisses Renato when he finally manages to take his first steps. Gabriela auditions to work as a dancer at Kênia and Bob's nightclub. Tadeu chokes upon hearing about Virginia and Bill's wedding. Ariel faints. Bruno grabs Andréa by the arm and tries to force her into his car.

Andréa doesn't even want to listen to Bruno, but he uses force. Bruno asks Andréa to come back to him and assures her that Selma will find a way to get Diogo out of there. Renato kisses Gongon. Chico reaffirms to Gilda that his relationship with Júlia is over. Afrânio asks for US$50 million for the company when Diogo proposes to buy it. Tadeu faints when Ariel announces that he will prevent Virginia from marrying Bill. Bruno is mesmerized by Gabriela's show. Ariel interrupts the wedding and tells the guests that Virginia loves him.

Virginia and Ariel run towards each other, kiss, and leave. Bill goes after them. Virginia and Ariel try to stop Bill from entering the mansion, but Tadeu lets him in. Ariel tells Virginia that he will set the wedding date and the day for the sperm collection. Bill throws himself onto the bed between the two and is knocked down by a punch from Ariel. Bruno is surprised by the news that his house will be auctioned off. Bruno kicks Antônia out of his house. Gabriela and Bruno go out together. Isaura forces Selma to leave, but Andréa doesn't allow it.

Isaura confronts Andréa, who reprimands her mother. Isaura faints. Bruno assures Gabriela that he can boost her career, but she refuses to spend the night with him. Rachel decides to help Bill: she will take Ariel to bed, and he must make sure Virgínia catches them in the act. Bill invents a story about a thief in the house and kicks everyone out. Tadeu, carried away by the music, grabs Bill. Selma leaves. Rachel throws herself into Ariel's lap and kisses him. Virgínia sees the scene. Isaura cries upon learning that Selma has left.

Emanuel faints with happiness when Selma knocks on his door, asking to stay at his house for a few days. Kléber pressures Bruno to confess to Euzeni's death. Bruno wants Xavier to eliminate Isaura and frame Selma.

Selma administers the injection to Isaura.

Isaura starts feeling unwell and accuses Selma of poisoning her. The real delivery man from the pharmacy appears. Diogo is certain that the delivery man was Xavier. The doctor says that Isaura was poisoned. Diogo tries to make Andréa believe that Bruno is the culprit. Isaura tells Andréa to be careful with Selma, and dies. Andréa accuses Selma of killing Isaura.

Selma denies everything. Andréa is unmoved and throws her out of the house. Bruno asks Xavier to kidnap Afrânio. Diogo defends Selma, and Andréa asks him to leave her house. Bruno denounces Selma. Diogo takes Selma to his boat. At an insemination clinic, Bill dresses as a nurse and retrieves the vial containing Ariel's sperm. Andréa sees Selma hiding behind a tombstone, watching the funeral.

Júlia and Diogo try to calm Andréa down. She demands that Selma leave and says that her place is in jail. Emanuel appears and Selma throws herself into his arms. Bárbara, Tadeu, and Cristiano go to the clinic to support Ariel. Dressed as a nurse, Bill passes the vial with the material to the doctor. Selma "sees" Isaura, grabs a knife, confronts Hélio, and leaves the boat. Selma climbs a wall with the knife in her hand.

Diogo disarms Selma and forces her into the car. From the balcony, Bruno watches everything and alerts the police. Diogo takes Selma to another city. Tadeu discovers Bill hiding in the garden and enters the house with him. Bruno informs Andréa that Diogo and Selma are together. Chico and Júlia kiss. Andréa pressures Diogo to find out if he was with Selma the previous night when she disappeared.

Diogo lies, saying he wasn't with Selma, and reaffirms his love for Andréa. Cristiano catches Bill spying on the house from a tree. Diogo lists all of Afrânio's fraudulent activities and warns him that he should sell the company. Bruno follows Diogo. Bill disguises himself as a robber and breaks into Ariel's house. Bruno overhears a conversation between Diogo and Selma and discovers that Diogo is the baby's father.

Bill pretends to fight the bandit and is considered a hero. Andréa remains suspicious about Diogo's disappearance. Bruno follows Diogo and Selma as they leave the inn. Bruno informs Kléber that Selma is on Diogo's boat. Chico insists on knowing what's happening with Vavá, but he avoids the subject. Kléber arrives at the marina. Bruno tells Andréa that Diogo is the father of Selma's child.

Andréa loses control and pushes Bruno out of her house. Diogo sets sail. Kléber orders the boat to return, in vain. Selma insists that Diogo not be harmed because of her. He warns that he has already lost one son and will not lose another. Bárbara puts Júlia and Chico together in a news report. Kléber asks Andréa to convince Diogo to turn Selma over to the police. Diogo and Andréa come face to face.

Andréa asks if he is the father of Selma's child, and Diogo has no way to deny it. She throws him out of her house. Alex Müller flirts with Júlia, and Chico gets jealous. Júlia is shocked when her husband confesses that he has been walking for a month but didn't say anything for fear that she would end up with Chico. Júlia cries. Diogo and Emanuel run from the police. Xavier puts Selma in the trunk of the car. Bruno invites Gabriela to dinner. Selma starts to feel unwell. Andréa writes a farewell note and leaves. Chico and Júlia come face to face, overcome with emotion.

Andréa is shocked to learn that Isaura shot Bento because Selma lied, saying that her father was harassing her. Andréa finds Selma.

Beto kidnaps Diogo's lawyer. Diogo starts feeling unwell after drinking the coffee offered by Meire. Diogo can barely read the contract; the lawyer says everything is correct, and he signs. Beto leaves the lawyer on a road. Andréa takes Isaura's gun. Bruno forces Afrânio to leave the country. At the edge of an abyss, Andréa points the gun at Selma but doesn't shoot. Selma falls off the cliff.

The lawyer Nelson thinks there's a chance to reverse the deal made with Afrânio, which cheers Diogo up. Beto robs an old woman, who reacts by shooting, as she is a retired major. He is shot. In the middle of the forest, Selma eats roots. She notices the presence of two men.

The men don't see Selma. Andrea is hostile towards Julia. Bruno gives Gabriela a ring. Tadeu receives the guests at his birthday party. One of them faints when Virginia says she is Ariel's wife. Selma is helped by nuns. Antonia secretly listens to Bruno and Gabriela's plans. Andrea remembers Selma. At the convent, Selma says her name is Vânia and that she will dedicate herself to God.

Crying, Selma says she's been wrong her whole life. Afrânio tells Antônia that they must return the money to Diogo. Chico agrees to marry Gilda. Selma prays. Renato asks Júlia to come back to him and tries to kiss her. Selma kisses the Mother Superior's hand, who authorizes her to pursue a religious career. Diogo leaves and Bruno invades the boat demanding his money back. Antônia grabs a knife, but is disarmed. Bruno slaps her. The sale of the company is annulled. Diogo pays Afrânio to transfer the company to his name. Diogo takes possession and surprises Bruno.

Bruno confronts Diogo and ends up getting punched by Afrânio. Diogo distributes his assets among Ariel, Hélio, Nicolau, and Andréa. He keeps a jeep and an NGO. Rachel introduces her friend, Raul Loyola, to Virgínia. Alex tells Júlia that he has never had a relationship with a woman. The Mother Superior releases Selma so she can look for her sister. Bruno tells Gabriela that he will become Andréa's husband again.

Upon signing the paper that returns the company to her, Andréa remembers to say that she wouldn't have succeeded without Bruno. Nicolau is elected president of Fênix. The nuns discover that Selma is accused of poisoning her mother. Júlia tells Alex that she is in love with another man. Selma is furious with the nuns, who believe she is possessed. Bruno appears to Andréa, introducing himself as her husband.

Bruno asks Andréa to come home, leaving her disturbed. Marlene and Júlia explain to Andréa that Bruno is a criminal, but she doesn't know who to believe. Selma leaves the convent. Bruno hires two men to set fire to the registry office where his divorce papers are kept. Alex asks Júlia to be the first woman in his life. Andréa goes out alone. Bruno invites her into his car.

Andrea ends up getting into Bruno's car. Marlene sees this and becomes desperate. Bruno shows Andrea the house and says that Marlene and Diogo are kidnappers. Andrea tells Kléber that she's with Bruno willingly, but he realizes she doesn't remember anything. Diogo decides to go get Andrea. Virgínia and Ariel scratch themselves with the itching powder that Bárbara put on their clothes. Diogo goes to Bruno's house.

Bruno pulls out a revolver and orders Diogo to leave. Emanuel faints when he sees Selma. Bruno reassumes the vice-presidency of the company. Tadeu receives a letter informing him that Igor has been kidnapped. Gabriela tells Bruno she is out of money. Selma decides to act upon learning what is happening to Andréa. Diogo puts a revolver to Bruno's neck and orders him to drive away.

Selma searches for Afrânio. Andréa is terrified to see Bruno immobilized by Diogo. Júlia, Marlene, and Apolinário try, in vain, to free Diogo. Sandro offers to work at the NGO, and there's a spark between him and Patty. Ariel punishes Tadeu for the evil things he does to Virgínia and warns him that he will now sleep at Igor's little house. Selma locates Afrânio, who becomes frightened upon seeing her.

Selma says she came to settle accounts with Afrânio. Drunk, Afrânio hands her the suitcase full of dollars. Andréa is spoiled by Bruno. Selma watches the house. Tadeu cries in the doghouse. Bruno conspires with Noronha, a psychiatrist expelled from society, to prevent Andréa from recovering her memory and to induce her to believe only him. Bruno appoints Gabriela as manager of the store; Letícia resigns. Alex proposes to Júlia. On his wedding day, Chico arrives at the registry office and looks seriously at Gilda.

Chico decides not to marry Gilda. He slaps her and leaves the registry office crying. Kléber asks Emanuel if he has heard from Selma. Afrânio tells Meire that Selma's spirit stole his money. Ariel lets Tadeu out of Igor's little house. Júlia finds out that Chico didn't get married. Beto tells Letícia that it was Joaquim who took the money from the store. Gongon wins the lottery. Chico looks for Júlia.

Chico asks Júlia to come live with him, and she promises to think about it. Regina warns Júlia that Noronha is an impostor. Ariel announces he's going to sell the mansion. Nicolau makes friends with some street kids. Noronha convinces Andréa that her father stole some of her money. Andrea is disturbed after watching a tape about her relationship with Diogo. Júlia assures Chico that she will try to be with him.

Chico hugs and kisses Júlia. Letícia is outraged to see Gongon changing the house. Rose, Noronha, and the security guards prevent Andrea from leaving the house. Bill, Tadeu, Rachel, and Bárbara simulate a sadomasochistic orgy to scare away a potential buyer of the mansion. Diogo is injured. Vavá says goodbye to Chico and moves out. Júlia arrives to stay. Andréa is applauded after her fashion show. Bruno sees a woman crossing the street and murmurs Selma's name.

Bruno stares intently at the woman, who walks away. Gongon buys a flashy car. Renato loses control upon learning that Júlia and Chico are living together. Beto catches Gabriela and Bruno together and demands money to keep quiet about it from Andréa. Alex goes to the newsroom and Chico throws him out. Ariel sells the house but, at the last minute, changes his mind. Bruno puts some drops of medicine in Andrea's drink, making her fall asleep. Bruno follows Selma's lookalike, discovers her name is Karen, knocks on her apartment door, and she opens it.

Karen is surprised when Bruno calls her Selma, and Vitor goes to confront him. Virginia puts up a rope separating the two groups in the house. Virginia and Ariel eat shrimp. On the other side of the table, divided by barbed wire, the others eat rice and beans. Beto receives the money sent by Bruno. Virginia institutes a curfew, including a blackout. Bill proposes a revolution. Bruno follows Karen and forces her to talk to him.

Karen insists she's not related to Selma. She says she lived in London, that her husband is a journalist, and that she has degrees in industrial design and advertising. Andréa shows Bruno a photo of Selma and asks who she is, but he pretends not to remember. Andréa signs documents without reading them. Rachel kisses Alex, and he confesses to being a virgin. Karen goes to the studio ready to accept Bruno's offer to work there.

Bruno hires Karen. Atílio tries to convince Andréa to leave the house, but realizes she's too confused. Diogo tells Atílio that Andrea could recover her memory any minute. Bandits take Letícia hostage until Beto pays a debt. Rachel introduces Alex to everyone in the house. Mateus is cold towards Júlia. She and Chico end up fighting. Andréa is stunned to see Karen.

Karen makes Andréa remember Selma, and she faints. Beto asks Gabriela for help to free Letícia. Gabriela asks Bruno for money. Later, he follows Gabriela and sees her giving the money to Beto. Andréa remembers separating from Bruno. Marlene sends newspaper clippings to Andréa. Among them is an article about the scam Bruno pulled on her. Bruno puts a drug in Andréa's drink. The henchmen capture Beto and demand the money back. A tribunal is set up at Ariel's house, and Bill is banished from the house. Rafael is left alone on the street and is rescued by a woman. The car, in which Beto and Gabriela are gagged, is pushed into a lake.

Bruno's henchmen watch the car sink. Bruno celebrates. Beto manages to free himself and tries to untie Gabriela, but runs out of breath. Bruno invites Karen to spend the night with him. Nicolau and Xana are devastated by Gabriela's death. Bill enters the house pretending to be Tadeu's Russian cousin, Yuri. Beto confronts Bruno and announces that it's time for revenge.

Bruno and Beto fight. Beto is shot. Bruno assures Andréa that he was a robber. Karina and Nicolau want to adopt Rafinha. Alex proposes to Rachel. He tells everyone the news. Bárbara discovers that Yuri is Bill in disguise. Renato breaks up with Gongon. Bárbara announces her engagement to Yuri. Renato reminds Júlia that it's their wedding anniversary.

Renato asks Júlia to have dinner with him. Bruno encourages Selma to end things with her "husband." Júlia tells Renato there's no chance of them getting back together. Emanuel fears Selma is taking too many risks. Gilda and Vavá kiss. Rachel makes a scene when she hears Alex swearing to Sophie that he's a virgin. Selma sees Bruno giving Andréa some kind of medicine. Kléber opens Diogo's cell door.

Diogo escapes from prison. He asks Hélio to free Andréa. Renato leaves for work. Bárbara announces she's tired of being a modern woman and wants to be the queen of the home. Kléber breaks into Bruno's house and arrests Noronha. Bruno tells Selma he's tired of his life with Andréa. Bárbara resigns from her position as editor of the magazines. Ariel appoints Júlia to the position, leaving Chico disappointed. Hélio discovers that Andréa will be in a fashion show for his new collection. Diogo kidnaps Andréa.

Andréa begs Diogo to take her back. Ariel asks to postpone the insemination. Bruno orders his henchmen to follow Hélio. Bill tells Bárbara he won't marry her. Bruno makes a desperate plea on TV, moving Andréa. Hélio is followed. Bruno breaks down the door, the henchmen draw their weapons, and he orders Andréa to come with him.

Diogo warns Andréa that Bruno only wants her money. Kléber bursts into the house just as Bruno has a gun to Diogo's head, who flees. Selma thinks a scare might help Andréa recover her memory. Bill is unmasked and kicked out of Ariel's house. Tadeu, Bárbara, and Rachel go to live in the garden with him. Ariel forgives his friends. Andréa returns home with Bruno, but the next morning decides to go to a hotel. Bruno insists she won't go. Júlia and Diogo report that Andréa is being held captive. Selma breaks into Andréa's house.

Andréa remembers accusing Selma of her mother's death. Selma switches the pills Bruno uses to drug Andréa. Ariel schedules the insemination. Bill then also arranges to inseminate Bárbara: he switches the insemination vials, but Bárbara undoes it. Júlia, Atílio, Marlene, and Apolinário give a press conference and accuse Bruno. Selma goes to Bruno's house and hugs him, knocking over an object. Andréa wakes up and catches them hugging.

Andréa begins to remember everything that happened and faints. Atílio obtains a court order to remove Andréa from the house. Andréa recovers her memory, but pretends to Bruno that everything is fine. Júlia and Chico argue about the cover story. Tadeu and Rachel are rejected by the "pregnant" couples. Andréa puts medicine in Bruno's wine. Chico and Júlia make up. Andréa tries to call, but the wires are cut. Bruno wakes up and looks for her.

8/13/2002

Bruno appears as Andréa is trying to leave. Marlene screams upon seeing Selma, who introduces herself as Karen. Chico and Júlia argue again at work, and he threatens to quit. Diogo is arrested. Andréa watches Bruno and sees him receive a gun. Atílio, Kléber, and Júlia, with a court order, go to get Andréa. Bruno decides to flee, and Andréa warns him he's going to jail.

8/14/2002

Andréa tells Bruno that she has recovered her memory. Bruno drags Andréa out of the house and says she will have to get the password. The police search the house, but find nothing. Júlia reads Andréa's letter and realizes that she has recovered her memory. Ariel and Virgínia plan their wedding. Júlia goes to take care of Letícia, who has the flu and is sleeping at Renato's house. Chico is furious. Bruno confesses to Andréa that he was the one who killed her mother.

8/15/2002

Andréa is horrified, and Bruno is sarcastic. Chico argues with Júlia, who is packing her bags to leave. When she leaves, he is devastated. Bruno locks Andréa in and leaves. Bruno asks Marlene for the password and orders the police to stop pursuing him. Renato gives Júlia a ring in honor of the years they lived together. Diogo gives the password to Atílio. Ariel hires Bill as a butler. Selma swears she believes Bruno.

8/16/2002

Karen/Selma says she's separated from her partner and offers to help Bruno. Chico asks Júlia to come home. Bruno arranges a meeting with Atílio. Kléber assures Atílio that he will participate in the operation. Renato is thrilled to learn that Júlia has separated from her partner. Bruno doesn't show up when he meets Atílio. When he arrives home, Atílio finds Kátia held hostage. Bruno orders Atílio to give the password, or Kátia will die.

8/17/2002

Bruno cocks the gun and forces Atílio to type the password into the computer. Five million dollars are transferred to his account. Bruno tells Selma that they will travel together the next day. Selma follows Bruno and then calls Kléber, giving him Andréa's whereabouts. Chico meets with Gilda, who assures him that she has already forgiven him. Andréa frees herself from the ropes and hides. The police find Selma in the street. Selma leaves. Bruno searches for Andréa with the gun in his hand.

8/19/2002

Bruno runs away and gets a ride on the road. Kléber finds Andréa, who returns home. Diogo is released thanks to Andréa's testimony, and the two meet. Bárbara and Virgínia's wedding dresses arrive. Andréa reveals to everyone that Selma didn't kill her mother. Célio gives Bruno fake passports. Chico asks Júlia to come back, leaving her confused. Everyone celebrates Andréa's return with a party. Karen and Bruno leave for Miami. Diogo and Andréa kiss.

8/20/2002

Andréa confesses to Diogo that she feels guilty about Selma's death. Bill reveals to Rachel that he switched Bárbara and Virgínia's insemination vials. The double wedding begins at Ariel's house. Júlia tells Andréa that she can't decide between Renato and Chico. Bill reveals in the middle of the ceremony that he switched the insemination vials, but Bárbara says she reversed the switch, and the wedding goes ahead. Júlia talks to Renato, and they end up kissing. Karen reveals to Bruno that she is Selma.

8/21/2002

Selma stabs Bruno in the back, and he dies in agony. She flees with the diamonds. Júlia tells Renato she won't move back in with him. The hotel maid in Miami finds Bruno. Ariel tells Virgínia that you can't have everything in a marriage. Ariel authorizes Rachel to take Patty to London. Selma gives the diamonds to Diogo. Virgínia almost faints when she sees Margareth, Tadeu's iguana. Diogo takes Selma to meet Andréa. The two embrace emotionally. Andréa is horrified to learn that Bruno is dead. Bruno arrives in Rio.

Bruno enters the apart-hotel room. Ariel orders everyone to accept each other's differences and eccentricities. Andréa decides to transform the mansion into a school for underprivileged children. Bruno fights with Emanuel and then flees. Selma screams upon learning that Bruno is still alive. Andréa recoils upon seeing Bruno, who demands her diamonds and takes her away. Diogo agrees to exchange the diamonds for Andréa. Bruno points the gun at Andréa's head, orders Diogo to follow him, but, realizing Nicolau is behind them, shoots the boy. The police arrive, but Bruno manages to escape with Andréa.

Bruno holds Andréa hostage. Bruno and Selma duel. Chico and Júlia decide to stay together. A party hosted by Ariel celebrates life and the loves built throughout the story.
